Dedicated to Blaze & Blade ~ Eternal Quest

Prologue

This is the Prologue taken from the game:

"Once upon a time located in the northern regions of the continent Mabressia there was a land called Foresia.

This marvelous land was ruled by a culture of magic. With their unbelievable power, the so called twelve Wisemen were

creating demons as their slaves. But this was the start of a terrifying development. Mankind ruled over the powers of

nature and people had the illusion that their powers would be eternal. But misled by the selfish belief in their own strength,

the twelve Wisemen called even more powerful creatures into existence who would finally claim the magic powers as theirs.

The twelve Wisemen had doomed their own kind.

Time has passed since then, and today this region is only known as 'The Forbidden Land'. This once beautiful land is still

inhabited by monsters and demons. Only a few ancient ruins tell a tale of the marvels of its past. Rumors have it that these

ruins still hold unbelievable treasures. Many fearless adventurers have since tried to rid 'The Forbidden Land' of its

treasures.

Seeking their dreams with Blaze & Blade..."

opening movie

There is also an anime-style intro movie to the game that plays after the prologue.

You can watch the Japanese version here. I haven't found the English version yet.

The dialogue for the intro is as follows:

Katran, Celythia, Rythalia and Santhor are battling a huge Behemoth.

They eventually defeat the monster and it transforms into a small, gray crystal.

After the battle the team are relaxing at the Roadside Inn. Katran is sat at the bar, staring at the crystal.

Other adventurers are having experts evaluate their hoards of newfound treasure.

Katran: "I work so hard at this, every time's the same and what do I get for it? I'm sick of this... I quit!"

Katran downs his drink and Celythia peers over his shoulder and grabs the crystal.

Celythia: "We did lose out this time, I can't believe how bad it was."

Katran: "Oh, just throw that thing away would you?"

Celythia: "No question about it. Oh!"

The crystal slips from Celythia's hand and falls onto the table, resting against Rythalia's rod.

As the crystal touches the jewel on the top of the rod it activates, shooting bright light all around the bar.

The customers exclaim and look on in awe.

A female warrior, Wiltora, runs over to the table.

Wiltora: "What's up? What was that? Oh wow! Is it yours? Is it for sale? I'll buy it, I'll buy it!"

Katran: "Hey, you, so why do you want this thing so bad anyway?"

Wiltora: "Well, because..."

Rythalia: "It's one of the magical crystals that appeared ages ago, when the last great culture fell into ruins."

Katran: "Whu..One of the crystals? But that means..."

Rythalia: "There must be more of them."

Everyone in the room starts to run out in search of the other crystals. Katran stands up.

Katran: "OK, let's go! On to new adventure!"

The party looks worn out.

Rythalia: "But we just got here!"

Celythia: "I need a bath."

Santhor: "We're all completely exhausted..."

Katran looks disappointed.

Katran: "OK, all right... But tomorrow morning, we set off!"

objective & summary

Objective:

"The objective of the game is to gather information about the available quests at the Roadside Inn and explore each area

thoroughly. You will receive one jewel for each major foe defeated at the end of a quest.

The objective of the game is to collect all jewels and challenge the final quest."

My summary

The game begins at the Roadside Inn. You talk to the Host, who tells you about the Woods of Ruin, a common starting

point for adventurers. Whilst completing this quest you find a strange lithograph. when you return to the Inn the Expert

takes a look at the Lithograph and the Elder explains to you that it is in fact the legendary Sagestone. An artifact from

years ago that gave its owners astonishing power. However, all of the crystals that give the Sagestone its power are

missing. This is where your main quest begins, your objective is to search all of the dungeons and areas of Foresia,

find the crystals and reunite them with the Sagestone.

gameplay

The gameplay on Blaze & Blade is pretty simple, but fun. You create a party of 1 to 4 characters then gather information on

quests, which will then appear on your map. You can then take on these quests, for which you'll get a gem after every boss.

This game is a good multiplayer, you can use a multi-tap and have 4 people playing at once, which was impressive for an

RPG of its time. You create your own characters, with 16 to choose from. Each character also has 4 sets of colour designs

which can be changed at any time during the game. The characters also have no level cap, which is a pretty unique feature

for a game. The game involves a lot of fighting and puzzle solving. The maps are very large and most of the time complex.

Once you enter a quest from the map you will be able to free roam with your party. You can battle monsters to train your

abilities, collect treasure or simply continue with the game. Another great thing about Blaze & Blade is that there are 403

items to collect - armour, weapons, accessories and more.
