The roadside inn

This section is all about the Roadside Inn and what you can do there.

The Roadside Inn is the main point of the game, this is where the adventure starts and where you return after you have

completed a quest. There are many things you can do here; you can always save at the Inn, you can talk to everybody,

have items evaluated and store items in the chest in your room.

Characters

Here is a guide to all of the characters that you will come across at at the Roadside Inn.

You'll find pictures, names, descriptions, uses and quotes for each character.

Name: The Receptionist

Description: The Receptionist is one of the first people that you can talk to at the Inn.

She is friendly and welcoming but she gets angry if you try to take more than two healing pins from the trunk.

Use: The receptionist can give you information sometimes, she tells you where your room is when you first arrive.

She will also tell you about the healing pins that you can take from the trunk in the lobby.

Quote: "Think carefully about everything you do."

Name: The Postman

Description: The Postman is friendly and will always greet you in the lobby.

He is very busy, often explaining how rushed off his feet he is, and how his difficult his job has become job due to the

demons.

Use: The Postman has no real use, he is mainly there just to tell you about how the area was before the demons started

to appear. Sometimes he will give you an insight into where to go.

Quote: "With all the demons appearing now, carrying the mail is a torment!"

Name: The Herb Girl

Description: A girl dressed in tartan that you can find in the lobby selling herbs.

She is pleasant and caring, often showing concern for the party.

Use: The Herb Girl's main use is to refill the Hunter's herb supply. Read more about her here.

Quote: "Anyone who knows the ways of the herbs can accomplish much with them."

Name: The Expert

Description: A chubby, bald man that lives in the first room on the first floor of the Inn.

He can be a little patronizing at times and when you first begin your adventure he is very cynical and lacks faith in you,

but as you progress his faith grows.

Use: The Expert has a very big part to play in your adventure. He will evaluate every item you collect, telling you the name

of the item, its attributes, who can use it, etc. He also looks at the Sagestone when you first obtain it.

Quote: "Hello, how were the rumors/tales/stories/legends/songs?"

Name: The Amazon Warrior

Description: A fiery-haired warrior that lives in the third room on the first floor of the inn.

She is a hardened fighter who relaxes after battle in her room with her spear still in hand.

Use: The Amazon Warrior will give you tips and hints on how to fight monsters, for example, she will tell you that you

should use magic when fighting stone enemies, etc.

Quote: "There are powerful demons not far from here. Be careful!"

Name: The Relaxed/Retired Knight

Description: This veteran is found relaxing in the same room as the Amazon Warrior.

He watches over the fire whilst sipping wine and musing about his past adventures.

He is called "The Retired Knight" later on in the game.

Use: The Knight has a very important use. He gives good advice on fighting monsters, information on new quests, etc.

More importantly he will trade Fate Coins for valuable items. Read more about him below.

Quote: "Demons can also take the forms of men. One of your own could be enchanted!"

Name: The Old Timer

Description: A very old man that sits in the restaurant of the Inn, telling his tales to anyone that will listen.

Use: The Old Timer can provide useful information about your next quest, but mainly he will just tell you a little bit of

Foresia's History.

Quote: "It seems strange to me that there are so many demons around here nowadays."

Name: The Old Drunk

Description: Can be found staggering around the restaurant with a glass in his hand, slurring his words.

He is apparently a doctor.

Use: Not much, he just provides some much needed comic relief after a hard quest.

Quote: "ULP, the liquor's too expensive around here."

Name: The Savage Fighter

Description: This blonde, heavily-armoured fighter is found close to the bar with the Mohican. He is a little bit crazy.

Use: Even though he's a little unstable the Savage Fighter can give you good tips on fighting certain monsters.

He also gives insight into new quests.

Quote: "Waaaah... I'm so wild!!!"

Name: The Mohican

Description: A large tough-looking warrior that stands close to the bar. He has a red mohican and a green tunic.

Use: The Mohican also give handy tips for battle, he also shows of a little.

Quote: "...Me? My body is my weapon and my shield!"

Name: The Host

Description: The host is a friendly guy and a good listener. He has great knowledge due to the adventurers that have

graced his bar in the past. He reveals that he always wanted to go seeking fame and glory, but doubts his strength.

Use: The host is very useful. When you first arrive at the Inn he tells you about the Woods of Ruin. He also tells you about

several other quests when you have finished.  At the end of the game he unlocks the fourth door on the second floor, which

has various valuables items in it.

Quote: "Ah, new guests! Welcome, how are you?"

Name: The Skilled Warrior

Description: A solemn warrior that has a huge sword over his back. He stands in the corner on the other side of the bar,

with his head hung low.

Use: The Skilled Warrior offers information on different parts of the area and how to fight certain monsters.

The only problem is that sometimes his information can be a little bit vague.

Quote: "One of the demons has unbelievable strength, he seems to be the lord of the area."

Name: The Elder

Description: An elderly man that sits on the other side of the bar. He wears purple waistcoat and a hat.

Use: The Elder is the first person to shed light on the Sagestone. When you find it and show the Expert he interrupts and

explains about the Sagestone and tells you that the jewels are missing. He also tell you stories of the past.

Quote: "There are a lot of ruins in this area. Being adventurers, you wont be able to resist exploring them..."

Name: The Bard

Description: A lady that plays the harp, who resides on the other side of the bar. She wears pink robes.

Use: If you approach the Bard she will ask if you want her to play you a tune, this just means that you can change the

music for the Roadside Inn here. If you say yes she will say "what sort of song would you like to hear?"

You have three options: A serious song (which is default), a fast song and a slow song.

I think that in translation the songs got mixed up and that the serious song is supposed to be the fast song, the fast song

was supposed to be slow and that the slow song was supposed to be serious.

Quote: "Shall I play you a tune?"

Name: The Masked Man

Description: This very mysterious character is dressed like a jester, and holds a strange mask to his face.

He can be found standing in the corner on the opposite side of the bar.

Use: Although the Masked Man is an enigma he can provide you with some very useful information about the history of

Foresia.

Quote: "Heh, the curious are swarming like flies..."

Name: The Expert's Brother

Description: The Expert's brother is a one-off character. He looks exactly the same as the Expert, though apparently he

doesn't find that to be a good thing.

Use: The Expert's Brother is used because when you return from your first quest you need to talk to the Expert who is

downstairs. However you still need someone upstairs to evaluate your items. This is what his brother is for.

Quote: "You think I look like my brother? Well that's no compliment..."

The retired knight

On the second floor of the Roadside Inn, go to the third door along and enter. This is the Knight's room, you can find the

Knight stood by the fire, sipping wine. At the start of the game he is called "The Relaxed Knight", but after you collect the

Sagestone and a few gems he will become "The Retired Knight".

The most interesting fact about the Knight is that after you have collected several gems for the Sagetone the Knight will

mention that he is collecting Fate Coins. If you find any Fate Coins do not use them, they are far more useful if you trade

them with the Knight. Some of the most powerful items in the game can be obtained this way.

See below for a list of these items.

Fate Coins can be hard to obtain. They are mainly dropped by the undead or human-like demons. With that in mind a good

place to pick them up is the Labyrinth of the Dead. A character with high luck will increase the chances of enemies dropping

treasure, you could also try wearing a Dropneal (See items page for a description).

Here is a list of all the items that you can buy from the Knight with Fate Coins.

There are some items that are different for each class. This list includes the names and cost of the items.

the host's room

You may notice that there is a locked door on the second floor of the Roadside Inn.

This room will only be accessible to you once you have collected all of the gems to put in the Sagestone,

then defeated the Zombie-Dragon.

When you have all the gems, talk to the host and he will give you the Host's Key, which you can unlock the door with.

Firstly there is a level 6 Forbidden Spell in here for the Sorcerer. If you look at the documents on the table you will be able

to learn Fusion.

Secondly, there are two chests. Whatever is in the chest depends on the character that opens it.

The chest on the left contains the following:

Warrior: Technique Book

Priest: Gabriel

Rogue: Golden Harp

Sorcerer: Renugeton

Hunter: Winged Boots

Elf: Necklace of Wonders

Dwarf: Wing Gauntlets

Fairy: Magic Pentagram

The other chest contains the following:

Warrior/Dwarf: Anti-Magic Armour

Priest/Sorcerer/Fairy: Guardian Robe (2)

Rogue/Hunter/Elf: Sun Shield
