Character Creation

Before you can start a new game you need to create your party. Your party can be made up of 1 to 4 members.

There are 8 different classes to choose from, each class has a male and female character,

(the only difference between Male and Female characters is appearance).

The first screen you will see is the Class selection screen:

Once you've chosen your character you'll be asked to name him/her.

(If you leave the name blank the default name will be given. See Classes below for all the default names).

You will then be asked to choose a style of speech. This doesn't change much in the game, it just determines how your

character will ask/answer questions, their exclamations, etc. The options are Normal, Polite, Old, Childlike, Impulsive, Cool,

Arbitrary and Quiet.

Next you choose a protective element. This will raise your defense for that element, for example, if you choose Fire, then

fire-based attacks won't do as much damage (of course!)

The choices are:

Fire

Water

Earth

Wind

Light

Darkness

Holiness

Evil

After you've done this you will be taken to the Ability Bonus screen. Here you have 3 cards that you flip to reveal different

numbers. The numbers range from 1-6 and these numbers are then added to your attribute points.

However, if you match 3 of the same cards you will get a Special Bonus and you can flip the cards once more.

I advise that you don't settle for anything less than three 6's on the first flip, as you can get into the 40's or 50's this way.

Finally, you can distribute your bonus points into these categories:

STR: Physical strength. Important for attacks. (Also takes up HP).

INT: Intelligence. Necessary for effective use of sorcery.

WIL: Willpower. Important for resistance to magic. (Also takes up MP).

AGL: Agility. Important for defense.

CON: Constitution. Important for health and healing. (Also takes up HP).

POW: Magical power. Important for recovery of magical energy. (Also takes up MP).

LCK: Luck. Luck is important in many situations. (Increases treasure drops and chances of critical hits).

Classes

Characters can use a Special Skills by pressing the X button during a game.

Alternatively, the character will use a Special Ability when necessary, for example, the Dwarf can smash through rocks

at certain points. Think about what characters will be helpful and how to use their skills or abilities to their potential.

Warriors

Game Description: "The Warrior is good at close combat and defense."

My Description: Warriors are a very good choice. They have very high attack power and good defense. They can block

physical attack from the front (but not magic) and they also have decent range with their swords. Some of the best and

most powerful items in the game can only be used by Warriors.

Default Name: Katran

Default Style of Speech: Impulsive

Special Skill: Can defend with a shield when attacked from the front.

Default Name: Wiltora

Default Style of Speech: Impulsive

Special Skill: Can defend with a shield when attacked from the front.

Hunters

Game Description: "The Hunter is good for distant attacks."

My Description: Hunters are very agile and have the best ranged attack of all the classes. They are good for shooting

down flying enemies with ease. They also have some great skills, they can heal with herbs and find secret paths in

certain places.

Default Name: Bellin

Default Style of Speech: Cool

Special Skill: Use of herbs.

Special Ability: Ability to find secret animal trails.

Default Name:  Kabliris

Default Style of Speech: Normal

Special Skill: Use of herbs.

Special Ability: Ability to find secret animal trails.

Rogues

Game Description: "The Rogue isn't too strong but very nimble."

My Description: Rogues are probably the most agile of all the classes. They don't have very good attack or defense but

they can ring rings around the enemy. They attack with daggers so their range isn't great, however they have some very

useful skills. They can sprint (which makes getting through long levels a lot easier), they can pick locks (which can enable

you to get some exclusive treasure) and they always disable traps on treasure chests.

Default Name: Santhor

Default Style of Speech: Normal

Special Skill: Sprint

Special Ability: Can break simple locks

Default Name: Sylvanta

Default Style of Speech: Quiet

Special Skill: Sprint

Special Ability: Can break simple locks

Dwarves

Game Description: "The Dwarf is small but extremely strong and very skilled at close combat."

My Description: Dwarves are great for physical attacks, they also have high defense and can use shields to block attacks

from the front like the Warriors can. However, they have very poor range and they also have low agility. An advantage to

choosing a Dwarf is that they can break some rocks with their axes. This is very handy later on in the game as it will

give you access to shortcuts.

Default Name: Dorgan

Default Style of Speech: Old

Special Skill: Can defend with a shield when attacked from the front.

Special Ability: Can crush loose rocks.

Default Name: Madila

Default Style of Speech: Old

Special Skill: Can defend with a shield when attacked from the front.

Special Ability: Can crush loose rocks.

Priests

Game Description: "Although being not too much of a fighter, the Priest is granted miraculous powers by the gods."

My Description: Priests can be very hard to use and train on your own. They are best used as a healer for a large group.

They have great healing power and their recovery magic is extremely useful, especially when you are miles from the

nearest healing point. They can even bring back fallen party members back from the dead. Priest also have the power

to exorcise the undead, they use holy magic which is great for places like the Labyrinth of the Undead. On the downside

Priests have very low attack and defense. Their range is also poor so try to keep them behind other party members

until they are strong enough to fight for themselves.

Default Name: Devonius

Default Style of Speech: Polite

Special Skill: Can use healing magic (this skill consumes MP)

Default Name: Rythalia

Default Style of Speech: Polite

Special Skill: Can use healing magic (this skill consumes MP)

Elves

Game Description: "The Elf is well balanced with fair abilities in both armed and magical attack."

My Description: Elves are great all-round characters. They have good attack and defense power and they can even use

attack magic. Elves use rapiers and short swords which have great range. Another good point about this class is that they

can break weak seals on doors. This allows you to access exclusive areas or take shortcuts. However, If you are looking

for a dedicated magic user then you would be better off with a Sorcerer as they have stronger magic.

Default Name: Yrgav

Default Style of Speech: Polite

Special Skill: Use of magic attack (this skill consumes MP).

Special Ability: Can break weak seals.

Default Name: Ilitis

Default Style of Speech: Polite

Special Skill: Use of magic attack (this skill consumes MP).

Special Ability: Can break weak seals.

Sorcerers

Game Description: "Sorcerers use ancient magic and magical attacks."

My Description: Sorcerers can be a tough class to use as they lack fighting skill. They don't have very good attack or

defense power and the range of their physical attack is very limited. However, they are the best magic users in the game

and can learn some excellent spells which can unleash awesome power. If you combine a Sorcerer with a Warrior to

protect him/her then you will be unstoppable.

Default Name: Velorius

Default Style of Speech: Old

Special Skill: Use magical attack (this skill consumes MP)

Default Name: Celythia

Default Style of Speech: Arbitrary

Special Skill: Use magical attack (this skill consumes MP)

Fairies

Game Description: "Fairies control a special intrinsic fey magic by using a wand. They are resistant to attacks from the

ground because of permanent levitation."

My Description: Fairies are probably the hardest character to use alone. They have low defense and attack power,

but they do have a good range with their physical attack. Once they are trained Fairies can be interesting to use as they

have some great status-changing magic such as slow, sleep, charm, etc. They also won't take damage from acid pools

as they permanently levitate. Use another character such as a Dwarf or Warrior to protect him/her if you choose a Fairy.

Default Name: Fharion

Default Style of Speech: Childlike

Special Skill: Supplementary magic

Default Name: Zathia

Default Style of Speech: Childlike

Special Skill: Supplementary magic
